UK Fellowship...

I competitively applied for and was awarded the Exeter Hip Fellowship.  I spent 18 months in the Exeter Hip Unit from July 2013.

I performed high volume primary and revision hip replacement, focusing on the use of bone cement and the use of impaction bone grafting in revision procedures.  I perfomed several research projects that have been presented at international meetings.

International fellowship...

I spent 12 months in Toronto, Canada working at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

As Canada's biggest arthroplasty unit and trauma centre I gained high volume experience of primary and revision knee replacement as well as knee ostoeotomy and arthroplasty for patellofemoral disorders.

I was honoured to be Nominated for the Zane Cohen Fellow of the Year Award before leaving Toronto.

Research...

I have a keen interest in clinical research and outcomes.  I have presented research at a local, national and international level.  I have a broad body of published work and have recently coauthored two chapters in a textbook on hip surgery.  My research publications can be viewed below:

Implants used...

I pride myself in the use of hip and knee implants that are tried and tested with a proven pedigree and long term track record. I use only ODEP 10A* rated implanted wherever possible.  A link to the orthopaedic device evaluation panel is included below.

Further information regarding this can be discussed at the time of your consultation and will be given on request.

I follow the Exeter philosopy of data transparency and excellence in outcomes.

Postgraduate...

I completed my basic surgical training on the Mersey training programme and attained the MRCS(Eng) in June 2005.

Following a spell in Shropshire I gained a place on the Mersey Orthopaedic Rotation in January 2007.  I then completed 6 years of specialist orthopaedic training covering all the major orthopaedic subspecialties in most hospitals in the region.

I gained the FRCS(Tr&Orth) in 2011 and my Certificate of Completion of Training in April 2013 having been on the Specialist Register since then.

I was awarded the Association of Liverpool Medical School Elective Bursary and was winner of the Undergraduate Surgical Case Presentations in 1998.
